Did you know HMRC will give you Time to Pay if your business is affected by the current economic crisis?

Are you worried about not being able to meet tax, NI, VAT or other payments owed to HMRC, or do you anticipate that payments coming due will cause you problems?

HMRC have introduced a new dedicated Business Support Service designed to meet the needs of businesses affected by the current economic crisis.

HMRC Business Payment Support Line

Tel. 0845 302 1435

Open Monday – Friday 8am – 8pm and weekends 8am – 4pm

What to do

The sooner you get in touch the sooner HMRC will be able to help you. In most cases a decision can be made in about 10 minutes. If you have payments due now or in the near future, which you can not make, we advise you call immediately.

Before you call

You must have the following information to hand:-

  1. Your tax reference number - printed on your tax statement (if you are unsure which reference number you need please call C H Ivens for assistance)

  2. Details of the tax that is causing concern – again the latest tax statement is needed.

  3. Basic details of your business income and outgoings – have a copy of your last set of accounts and your books for the current year. Try to work out in advance of making the telephone call what specifically has caused your problem, eg. a fall in takings, a large bad debt, loss of a contract etc.
